As you may know, I’ve been trying a bunch of new mixed media techniques, and I’ve been incorporating them into my art journal, handmade cards and even my Etsy shop.
It’s definitely a throwback to a simpler time, when many of us began our handmade journeys. How did I come up with this new idea? No, it wasn’t from my trip to CHA back in January. This wasn’t even featured there. I was inspired by the old dried up noodles we found behind our oven when we had to move it when the new floor was installed. That really showed me the staying power of pasta, so I knew it would be a great addition to my artwork.
Check it out- you can easily dye your noodles to create any color you want. Here’s a sneak peak at my process using Ranger’s Dylusions Sprays. Just beautiful!
And, look how great they look on a handmade card – dyed pasta really accents that watercolor background, am I right?
Of course, you’ll want to mail that card in a padded envelope with extra pasta…I mean postage.
These retro-cool noodles also make the perfect add-on to Gelli Prints. Check out this border:
Finally, here’s the world preview of my new Etsy shop line – I think people will go crazy for these noodle necklaces with matching wagon wheel pasta earrings. I know the jewelry catgory is very competitive on Etsy, but I’m not worried- they don’t have anything like this QuiltedCupcake exclusive!
Get your orders in fast, it’s very possible this unique new line will sell out quickly! 😉
And, Tim Holtz, if you’re seeing this, I am open to collaboration. Just email me! Imagine the pasta-bilities.
