Fabric Finds and More Projects in Progress

On a recent shopping trip to Hobby Lobby, I found 2 great fabrics.
I already made something with this (stay tuned for pictures).  I’ve been collecting vintage sewing notions for display in my studio, so this fabric called out to me!  At first I was concerned that it was a home dec weight, but that worked perfectly for the project I made.

And, this pink print is hopefully going to be a summer skirt.  A skirt is on my bucket list of projects I want to do. I was totally inspired by Wendy at A Couple More Hours.  See her 10 skirts here.

 I

I’ve never successfully made clothing for myself from a pattern.  There was an awful vest I made in Home Ec in high school, but I don’t like to think about that.  Let’s just say that after the project was graded, it went in the trash.  It’s probably the reason I haven’t attempted clothes since.  I did help my sister Jan make my wedding gown, but I was definitely in the “helper” category.  She did all the real work.

I’ll let you know how it turns out.  I have the pattern (one suggested by Wendy), now just need the courage to make the skirt.

Any suggestions for fabrics, tips, etc.?  Please post in the comments.  I need all the help I can get on this one!
